MJAS’s intervention (work) on Formal Education

MJAS has carefully examined all aspects that contribute to the deficit in education. In its decades long work, it has taken active steps that can help remedy the situation and increase the number of students receiving formal education.

1. Assessment of requirements:

MJAS is dedicated to making education accessible to all by conducting comprehensive assessments of the educational landscape and identifying key areas for intervention. This includes addressing the need for an adequate number of teachers for each subject, ensuring the availability of essential facilities such as toilets, appropriate school buildings, boundary walls, libraries, playgrounds, and drinking water. Additionally, MJAS has established credibility with various institutions, including the Education Department, the District Collector’s Office, Women and Child Development Departments, the District Legal Services Authority, the Police, and the Child Welfare Committee.

2. School Enrollment and Retention:
The initiative focuses on improving school enrollment and retention by
  • Tracking attendance and supporting children who have dropped out of the education system.
  • Providing financial assistance for books, fees, and tuition, while actively engaging with irregular students and their families to prevent dropouts.
  • Linking families to government schemes and entitlements, end-to-end support in opening bank accounts and other documents, school admissions and availing benefits of schemes.
  • These interventions contribute to address and reduce child marriage which is a leading factor of discontinuing education. Additionally,
    it facilitates re-enrollment in various educational institutions, including government and private schools, open schools, and vocational training centers..
